Field Application Engineer (FAE)

Job Description:

Highly technical and experienced in driver and application development. Self-driven individual with very high-quality deliveries and needing as little as possible input. Highly-responsible engineer that will provide engineering support to Sigma Designs customers in their application and driver development. Excellent team-player capable of a perfect and seamless integration in Technical but also Sales team. Understands customer requirements for their projects and develops/debugs SW applications and drivers accordingly. Attends customer meetings and conference calls, providing answers for customers through daily email. Verifies problems reported by customers that cannot be verified by our QA department. Highly technical, broad understanding of very complicated issues, but customer driven. Supports pre-sales customers and helps them to understand the functionality of our products. Understands complex code written by a team of highly specialized engineers in a small amount of time. Explains difficult concepts to customers. Teaches customers on how to use programmatically our products. Diagnoses and debugs intricate and complex problems that customers are experiencing. Solution seeker. Exceptionally, when a problem cannot be solved by its own technical capabilities, the application engineer will isolate the issue and find the part of the driver that is responsible for the problem and interact directly with the engineer responsible to find a solution.

Job Requirements:

BS/MS in Computer Science or related fields. Linux application and kernel module developing. C/C++ expertise as well as deep understanding of compilers and makefile. Broad knowledge of MPEG video, audio and system standards. Knowledge of video industry and standards (MPEG, NTSC, PAL, DTV and HDTV) with 2 years experience. Programming in C/C++ for a minimum of 2 years. Linux application and kernel module development for a minimum of 2 years. Solid knowledge of oscilloscope and logical analyzer tools is required. Customer support experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
