Media lovers everywhere are now looking beyond the home television for their viewing entertainment, and now expect to be able to access the content that they want, where they want it. Watching on a PC is fast becoming the newest viewing habit. In supporting the widest possible reception standards, Sigma Designs' products will allow viewers to enjoy improved high definition TV content directly through a notebook PC.
Affordability, high quality, low power usage and multi-standard compliance are essentials for consumers to enjoy the PCTV viewing experience. Sigma Designs' PCTV solutions offer manufacturers these benefits as well as the maximum flexibility in design and integration.
Sigma Designs acquired the TV product line from Trident Microsystems. The products in this section are now a part of Sigma Designs' product offering for the PCTV market.

The SAA7128 and SAA7129 encode digital YCbCr video data to an NTSC, PAL or SECAM CVBS or S-video signal. Simultaneously, RGB or bypassed but interpolated YPbPr signals are available via three additional DACs. Through a 54 MHz multiplexed digital video input port, the circuit accepts two ITU-R BT.656 compatible 4:2:2 YCbCr data streams with 720 active pixels per line.

The SAA7120 and SAA7121 encode digital YCbCr video data to an NTSC or PAL CVBS or S-video signal. The circuit accepts CCIR compatible 4:2:2 YCbCr data with 720 active pixels per line, for example MPEG decoded data. It includes a sync/clock generator and on-chip DACs.

The SAA7104 and SAA7105 are video encoders which convert PC graphics data at maximum 1280 X 1024 resolution (optionally 1920 X 1080 interlaced) to PAL (50 Hz) or NTSC (60 Hz) video signals. A programmable scaler and anti-flicker filter (maximum 5 lines) ensures properly sized and flicker-free TV display as CVBS or S-video output.

The SAA7154 is a high-quality multistandard video decoder supporting 10-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), enhanced PAL/NTSC comb filtering, more versatile Vertical Blanking Interval (VBI) data processing, high-definition component video, and picture improvement processing facilities.

The SAA7136 and SAA7138 are 10-bit Multi-Standard Audio Video Decoders, capable of supporting many audio and video applications worldwide. They simplify system design of audio and video processing systems through high integration of capable components with bus control.

The SAA7130 and SAA7134 are single chip solutions to digitize and decode video and audio, and to capture both data streams through the PCI bus.

The SAA7113, SAA7114, and SAA7115 are video capture devices, combining two channel analog pre-processing, video decoding, and high performance scaling.
